The challenge
A daily flip calendar is read for ten seconds a day for a year. Each page has to carry a verse in Arabic, its translation, its reference and a few lines of commentary without feeling crowded, and the design has to be quiet enough to live on a desk beside everything else.
The approach
One fixed template does all the work: the day number in a small wreath at the top, the Arabic verse largest, the translation and reference beneath it, and the reflection in a narrower measure lower down. The floral corners are the same on every page so the eye stops noticing them and reads the words. Spiral bound with a stiff back, so it stands without a stand.
The outcome
Printed and in daily use.
