Gift of Love — Cookbook

A warm, family-feeling cookbook built on a calm grid and generous food imagery.

The challenge

A cookbook has to work in the kitchen, not just on the coffee table. Recipes vary wildly in length, ingredient counts and step counts, so the layout needs to absorb that variation while staying readable at arm's length with flour on your hands.

Ingredients left, method right — one template for every recipe.

The approach

I set a single flexible recipe template: ingredients in a narrow left column, method in a wider right column, and a consistent baseline so every spread aligns even when a recipe runs long or short. Photography gets full pages rather than being cropped into boxes, and headings use one warm serif at a generous size so the reader can find their place from a step back. Short recipes gain white space instead of filler.

The outcome

The finished book keeps a steady, unhurried rhythm from cover to cover, and the template means new recipes can be added later without redesigning a page. Print and distribution details to be confirmed.
