Children's Dua Prints
A pair of nursery prints, the dua for sleeping and the dua for waking, illustrated for a child's wall.

The challenge
Children's Islamic decor tends to be either too babyish to survive past toddlerhood or too formal to belong in a child's room. The pair had to carry the Arabic accurately, be read by a parent at bedtime, and still look like it belongs above a small bed.
The approach
Night and day are told as one picture each: a crescent and star on a deep watercolour sky, a sun rising over soft clouds. The dua sits inside a cloud shape at the foot of each print, Arabic first at a size that is legible from the bedside, with a plain English translation underneath in a rounded face a child can learn to read. The two prints share the same cloud, the same type and the same margins, so they hang as a pair.

Sold as a framed pair through the Etsy shop.
